Courtrooms can feel intimidating, and the language used there can be hard to understand. The Council works to make sure people who use the court have access to resources that help them understand their civil and legal rights. These resources are meant to reduce barriers and make it easier for people to navigate the court system. Treatment or “Problem-Solving” Courts may be an option.
Treatment Courts or Problem-Solving Courts are specifically designed courts that serve persons with behavioral health treatment needs such as substance use disorders or mental health diagnoses.
Youth Recovery Court: Youth Recovery Court (YRC) is a program designed for teaching youth and their families how to cope with mental health symptoms, substance abuse issues, and negative behaviors that have resulted in criminal charges and criminal behavior.
Family Recovery Court: Family Recovery Court (FRC) is a specialized program designed to assist families where at least one parent’s substance abuse was the cause of involvement in the child welfare system.
