Notice of Vacancy - 17th Circuit Associate Judge Print E-mail

Eugene G. Doherty, Chief Judge of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit is pleased to announce that the Illinois Supreme Court has authorized the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court to post a notice of vacancy for an Associate Judgeship.  This vacancy is based on the planned retirement of Associate Judge Brian D. Shore, effective November 15, 2018.

Judge Shore was appointed as an Associate Judge on December 7, 1998.  He has been assigned in Winnebago County where he has presided over criminal, family, and civil cases.  He is currently assigned to the Court’s Criminal Division where he presides over misdemeanor cases.  Since 2006, he has served as the Administrative Associate Judge and has been instrumental in scheduling oversight, policy advancement, technology implementation, and professional development.

Chief Circuit Judge Eugene Doherty lauded the unique contributions Judge Shore has made to the circuit during his career.  “There is perhaps no judge, circuit or associate, who has acquired a better working knowledge of all facets of the circuit court’s operations,” Judge Doherty said.  “At the same time as he has presided with skill and efficiency over his own busy calls, Judge Shore has also been a vital contributor to all aspects of the circuit court’s operations.  He will most definitely be missed. We all wish him well on his retirement.”

An announcement as to a retirement reception for Judge Shore will be made at a later date.

The application period for the current vacancy will remain open until September 5, 2018. The anticipated starting date for the selected applicant is December 3, 2018.  Please see the attached Notice of Vacancy for Associate Judgeship.
